Nalanda committee allots Rs 35.44 cr for education

BIHARSHARIF: A sum of Rs 35.44 crore has been approved for 'Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan' in the financial year 2004-05 by the Nalanda district committee of the Abhiyan and sent to the State Education Research and Training Institute.

BIHARSHARIF: A sum of Rs 35.44 crore has been approved for ''Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan'' in the financial year 2004-05 by the Nalanda district committee of the Abhiyan and sent to the State Education Research and Training Institute. The amount would be utilised for providing educational infrastructure in the district.
Giving this information, Nalanda DM Anand Kishore said a sum of Rs 1.3 crore would be spent on 11 basic schools.

Also, a good amount would be spent for ensuring teachers and headmasters in 112 primary schools which will be upgraded to the level of middle schools. There is also a proposal to finance 1,947 schools for development and 1,653 schools for maintenance.
Construction of school buildings and toilets and installation of handpumps are also proposed. Altogether 1,821 additional teachers will be employed at a salary of Rs 7,500 per month each.
The DM said work is under progress for construction of 60 new buildings, 364 classrooms and 30 headmasters'' chambers, among other things, with the amount sanctioned for the financial year 2003- 2004. Besides, 417 hand pumps have already been installed and 188 toilets constructed.
In all, 3,53,600 children have been enrolled in different primary and middle schools, the DM said, proudly announcing that Nalanda district has been ranked second in the state in implementation of "Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan".
